REGEXPLORE is a self-service data platform and reporting tool aimed at domain registry operators. Users plug in registration data at the level of the registrar (eg. creates, deletes, renews etc) which instantly populates interactive dashboards and reporting on performance metrics, trends and growth drivers of the product and the registrar sales channel. While REGEXPLORE has been developed for Top-Level-Domain (TLD) Registries, it can be used by anyone with a subscription-like product that has renewals and which has a network of resellers.
what's included
REGEXPLORE contains a core component with several optional extras. The following outline the components available:
-
Registrations analysis
This is the core component of REGEXPLORE. It contains interactive dashboards, analysis and reporting on the status and evolution of registrations in the TLD as well as performance benchmarking of the registrars.
-
REGISTRAR PRICE TRACKER
A Registrar price tracker component captures data from your top registrars’ webpages and produces analysis dashboards on price trends and comparisons. Data is captured by manual research on a quarterly basis. Data collected are the buy, renew, transfer prices as well as any promotions. Other data such as whether tax is included and the currency are all captured to ensure final price comparisons are accurate.
-
Domain usage data
We crawl random samples of domains from your zonefile (supplied by the registry) and classify them into technical areas of web usage (eg. high content, parking etc) as well as many other technical attributes (redirects, MX records, SSL languages etc) to produce dashboard analysis on how domains are being used. Usage data can be either at TLD level or registrar level. Crawls are generally run monthly and produce analysis dashboards. See the 'domain usage view' example video below
-
geographic maps
Geographic maps are visualised in the platform to help users view where domains are registered as well as the growth areas. Data can be mapped at either country or postcode level based on availability.

While REGEXPLORE is specifically developed for top-level domain operators with a network of domain registrars, its versatility makes it suitable for any organization managing subscription-based products through resellers.
REGEXPLORE can support as many individual users from the registry as required for a single subscription price. Each user will have their own account login to the platform and receive quarterly reports via email.
REGEXPLORE operates seamlessly to ensure registries have access to up-to-date and accurate performance data. Aggregated registration data is submitted by the registry through various convenient methods, such as manual CSV upload, FTP, JSON, or SCP, on a monthly basis. This data is then securely transferred to the REGEXPLORE database, where it promptly updates all dashboards within the platform. Users can effortlessly log in to access the most recent reports, providing them with instant insights and comprehensive analyses.
The core data required for REGEXPLORE to function is as follows:
- Registrations by Registrar ID:
- Total domains at start of month
- New registrations (creates) by month
- Total deletes by month
- Total renews by month
- Transfer data – table of transfers based on receiving and gaining registrar ID
- Data provided once:
- List of registrar names
- Historical registrations (all registrations and transfers based on above metrics)
- Domain crawling (optional): Random sample of domains (max 50K) in the zone
The registry should ideally update the registration data which feeds REGEXPLORE on a monthly basis.
Yes, REGEXPLORE can support multiple TLDs, however, some minor tweaks will be needed on our end to arrange that. Just give us a heads-up and we’ll ensure you can use a dropdown to select from the TLDs
